The goal of the Instructional Technology Certificate program is for student candidates to be able to effectively and efficiently facilitate learning and improve performance by creating, using, and managing appropriate technological processes and resources. With the advanced studies in the proposed program, these candidates are also able to meet changing job requirements in response to current trends in instruction and technology.
The program is delivered fully online through a learning management system (Canvas).
Upon completion of the certificate program, student candidates will have mastered the following skills, both systematically and systemically.
- Students will be able to assess a real-life educational media situation (including ethics and attention to diversity of learners) by determining an overarching goal, its underlying objectives, and resources needed to meet them.
- Students will be able to design and create an educational media learning artifact by outlining performance objectives and strategizing learning events
- Students will be able to manage and use a quality, effective educational media product.
- Students will be able to evaluate educational media within a collaborative community of practice.
- Student will demonstrate the ability to provide educational media leadership by triangulating information from theoretical foundations, reflection on practice, and methods of making informed decisions.
These five program objectives are aligned with AECT Standards. The objectives also guide the development of the assessment tools. The eleven AECT indicators (from the AECT Standards) in the above program objectives are underlined.
